KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari suggested on Monday that educational reforms would play a defining role in eliminating child abuse from across the country, while also stating that the country’s policing system requires a complete overhaul.
Referring to the recent rape and murder of 8-year-old Zainab from Kasur, Bilawal recommended the need for educational reforms in institutions countrywide. The PPP chairman also highlighted the need to teach children safety and preventive measures.
“We cannot fight child abuse if our children don’t know how to protect themselves. All political parties should be on the same page pertaining to child rights.” Bilawal said talking to media representatives.
“More than that, it is crucial to teach children what to do and how to talk about an incident should they become a victim,” Chairman PPP added.
Bilawal also suggested that Pakistan police force’s resume has been dissatisfactory and requires systematic amendments. He further added that representatives of all major political parties need to sit together and carve out solutions to improve policing standards.
