ISLAMABAD – The committee constituted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan to review the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission Amendment Ordinance met here on Monday to discuss the law comprehensively, particularly in light of the experience over the last couple of years.
In the light of the discussions which took place at the meeting, it was felt that comprehensive amendments are required in the existing law in order to make it simple, workable and effective, says a statement issues here on Monday.
Consequently, the amendments made vide the ordinance will be withdrawn by the Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet, and a detailed amendment bill will be introduced in the Pakhtunkhwa Assembly which ensures that the law would be effective, comprehensive and strengthen the processof independent accountability.
Therefore, the committee has been directed by the chairman to expedite the process of drafting the amendment bill to be presented before the Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. It was also decided that the search and scrutiny committee will initiate the process for selection of the new director general of the Ehtesab Commission.
