LAHORE: The federal government and the military establishment are at odds with each other as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif believes he isn’t being allowed to work according to his own wishes.
Veteran journalist Arif Nizami in his talk show, DNA on Channel 24, said the military establishment thinks the prime minister is pro-India as Islamabad had, on numerous occasions, tried to develop trade ties with New Delhi.
Commenting on the controversial posters, Nizami said some hidden hands are behind the campaign, calling for Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif to impose Martial Law and form a government of technocrats.
The veteran journalist also questioned how these posters were installed in 13 cities cross the country, and remarked that whoever was behind this campaign could not be called a friend of Pakistan.
Nizami said that Martial Law was no solution to the problems facing the country and the army was aware of it so there was no threat to the government from the armed forces. He, however, went on to add that the harmony between the army and the federal government was not what it should be.
According to Nizami, the issue of the posters campaign also came up during a meeting between Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Tuesday.
